Sailed twice around the world, started my acedemic career as an archaeologist and somehow ended up lecturing on science and researching fish.

This episode resonates with me SO much. Actually all your podcasts do. It has been nice and refreshing to listen to someone who thinks like me about fishkeeping.
I think you nailed the club situation. As a member of one that I have to drive 40 miles to every month, I get tired with all the same things repeated every time. We hire out a little room, have a sales table and raffle full of literal junk and there is usually a talk. I’ve asked them time and time again to get with the times and change the format but they are not interested.
I organised a mini meet once where we ended up in the pub and had an actual social, and people enjoyed it. If only we could build upon that foundation…
Part of me wants to start a local club, but the other remembers I don’t want the hassle and drama of running a club.
